Fruit Tree

There’s a fruit tree in the garden

Magnificent beyond belief

It’s golden fruit is bursting
But you just see a single leaf

And there’s a new star in the Heavens

It’s eruption blinds the sky

But what forged this supernova

You fail to ask or wonder why

If I handed you a paintbrush

Would your canvas overflow

With the passion of a starburst

Or would your vision fail to show

And if I handed you the whole world

Would you carve in flesh or stone

Would you people it with new life

Or would you stand there all alone

Open up your mind and release

All those feelings deep inside

There’s no need to live out others’ dreams

There’s no reason left to hide

Go and plant a fruit tree of your own

Tend its roots and watch it grow

Then reap the bounty of its harvest

Make it yours and watch it flow
