Northern Grit (The Good, The Bad & The Greedy)

'Northern Grit (The Good The Bad & The Greedy)' is a collaborative project between Gary and his partner Helen, featuring songs and illustrations based on a selection of intriguing and inspirational well-known and lesser-known figures from North East England, including Catherine Cookson, Mary Ann Cotton, Peter Lee, Jonathan Martin, Joseph Skipsey: The Pitman Poet of Percy Main, Grace Darling, George Stephenson, Thomas Spence, John Duck: '"Durham's Dick Wittington", and more.

Northern Grit was launched at the People's Bookshop in Durham City on 31st March 2019 with a display of illustrations by Helen and a performance of songs to accompany them by Gary, followed by a month-long exhibition of Helen's work for the project throughout April 2019 at the People's Bookshop. Further exhibitions and performances are due to follow, alongside a CD and Book.
